Camera trap lending application Deadline: June 12th
For Snapshot Japan 2024, we have decided to lend some camera traps. The decision on lending will be made based on your experience of camera trap survey and your site location, because we only have a limited supply. Please check the requirement and register from following form, if you want.

Before registering for Snapshot Japan 2024, you must register and create a Data Contributor account on Wildlife Insights. If you have a Data Contributor account on Wildlife Insights, you can register for Snapshot Japan 2024. Please use the forms below.

※Camera traps for animal population density estimation
This year, camera trap monitoring to estimate animal population density will be conducted simultaneously with Snapshot Japan 2024. This monitoring is supported by JSPS KAKENHI Grant No. 24K03133 (Fukasawa, 2024-2026). If you would like to participate in the population density monitoring, please register for Snapshot Japan 2024 forms. Note that the deployment locations of camera traps should be the same trees as the Snapshot cameras and should be in movie mode (more details here).
※Wilidlife Insights
Please register and create a Data Contributor account on Wildlife Insights (https://www.wildlifeinsights.org/), because Snapshot Japan manages the camera trap data with Wildlife Insights. If you already have a Data Contributor account on Wildlife Insights, the following procedure is not necessary.
① Register for Wildlife Insights
Register for Wildlife Insights (https://app.wildlifeinsights.org/join). When you will be received an e-mail from Wildlife Insights, please check the e-mail.
② Creating a Data Contributor account
To upload and annotate data, you need to create a Data Contributor account on Wildlife Insights. After registering for Wildlife Insights, submit from here (https://www.wildlifeinsights.org/account-approval). Please enter “Snapshot Japan” in the “Describe your project” field. The process of creating a Data Contributor account is complete and you will receive an e-mail from Wildlife Insights.
Notice
●The participant should have a permission from the landowner to monitor with camera traps.
●Do not destroy any part of the site, such as forest or agricultural roads, to install camera traps.
●To prevent accidents, participants should manage their own risk.
●The National Institute for Environmental Studies is not responsible for any action taken based on the participation in Snapshot Japan.
●When uploading photos/videos collected with Snapshot Japan, please make sure that the photos/videos do not include anyone who does not have permission to take the photos/videos. If a person is in the photos/videos, please refer to the Participant Manual.
