Brief Description of Research
My research focused on the associations of environmental factors on health outcomes of children and the elderly, especially on asthma, autism, Alzheimer's disease, and Kawasaki disease. I have experiences in conducting researches with several large cohorts in Taiwan. I used a subset data of the Nation Health Insurance Research Database—the Longitudinal Health Insurance Database 2000 (LHID2000), including one million individuals to assess the associations of air pollution on autism and Alzheimer's diseases. I evaluated the associations between satellite-derived PM2.5 estimates and allergic diseases using a large birth cohort, the Taiwan Maternal and Child Health Database (TMCHD) that consists of 1,620,145 live births in Taiwan as well. Additionally, I retrieved satellite-based remote sensing data from Terra and Aqua MODIS aerosol optical depth (AOD), where I built a 10-km, 3-km and 1-km spatial resolution satellite-based PM2.5 estimation model across Taiwan during 2005-2015. Current, I am processing the Japan Environment and Children's Study data and environmental exposure data, namely volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and aldehyde in Japan.
