To investigate the impact of climate change and mitigation policies on hydropower globally, we analyzed global hydropower potential data (2010-2099) calculated by the H08 global water resources model and hydropower generation data (2005-2100) calculated by the AIM/CGE model. The results implied that the impact of climate change on hydropower potential and generation substantially varied by region. The regions where climate change will increase the hydropower potential would have the opportunity to introduce more hydropower generation.
