Notes

The somatic cortex of Furgasonia blochmanni, Nassula aurea, Nassula citrea, Nassula ornata and Pseudomicrothorax dubius was reinvestigated to find additional characters usefull for phylogenetic considerations. The occurrence of alveolocysts in the cortex of all nassulids examined, allow us to assume that the order Nassulida is a monophyletic group. Attempts to single out certain genera should be rejected. Own results and data from the literature, summarized in a "scheme of argumentation of phylogenetic systematics" (Hennig), allow us to include the Nassulida in the Oligohymenophora. We suggest that a new subclass Parahymenostomata should be erected for the Nassulida as a sister group of the Hymenostomata.
