Notes

The flagellate protist Thaumatomastix bipartita Beech et Moestrup (Thaumatomonadida) is reported from the plankton of Lake Waihola, a tidally-influenced freshwater lake in the South Island of New Zealand, on the basis of spineless scales observed by transmission electron microscopy. Previously, T. bipartita and its close relative, T. salina (Birch-Andersen) have been found only in marine and estuarine habitats.
