Notes

Acetates and nitrates of sodium, potassium and copper were able to induce excystment of S. russelli and H. rhysodes cysts to varying degrees. Atmospheric level of CO2 (0.03%) was found to be essential for the excystment process. Slight increase in the CO2 level (0.5-0.8%) enhanced the excystment where a further increase in CO2 inhibited the excystment of amoebae. Various concentrations of sugars and antibiotics were unable to induce excystment of amoebae.
