Notes

We have measured the 5' nucleotidase activity in the Oligochaeta Eisenia foetida in (a) different segments of the body of normal Worms and, (b) in regenerating segments of Worms with their anterior part previously excised. In normal Worms the 5' nucleotidase activity is not constant along the body axis. During regeneration the activity decreased gradually several days after amputation, reaching a minimum at the active mitotic phase. A relationship between 5' nuleotidase activity and AMP level is discussed.
