Notes

Some 50 taxa have been detected from Gyokusen-do, a coral reef origined cave located ca. 600 m up the river mouth of the Yuhi-gawa flowing on the southern part of Okinawa Mainland; Zoomastigophorea ca. 5, Amoebida ca. 7, Testacea (species with empty test excluded) ca. 8, Holotricha ca. 14, Spirotricha ca. 2, Nematoda ca. 3, Rotifera ca. 15, Copepoda ca. 2, respectively. Of these, at least 2 taxa of the Rotifera seem to be new to science. Water quality was quite different from that of Akiyoshi-do and Ryuga-do, both of which are typical stalactite caves in Japan.
