Notes

In the years 1966-1969, investigations were carried out on the ecology of pelagic rotifers in 60 lakes of the Leczna - Wlodawa lake distinct during the summer seasons. In the course of these investigations six new species and 30 rare species in Polish fauna were ascertained. The new species were: Trichocerca gracilis (Tessin), Epiphanes pelagica (Jennings), Trichotria tetractis paupera (Ehrbg.), Lepadella rhomboides carinata (Donner), Tripleuchlanis plicata (Levander), Collotheca calva (Hudson). In September 1968 a few rotifer individuals of the genus Euchlanis Ehrenberg were noted in the lake Piaseczno. These individuals differ somewhat as to their morphological features from the species of this genus known up to date, that is why they are described as Euchlanis sp. They are similar to Euchlanis callysta Myers in the cross-section outline and in the appearance of their armour. They have an elongated armour, narrowing at the end of the body, but without a sharp ending of the back edge. The whole length of the armour is 134 µm and its width 91 µm. The habitat conditions and the distribution of ascertained forms in the investigated lakes as well as in other Polish regions have been described.
