Notes

Producing the occurrence of males in Notommata copeus, the long-day photo-periods are effective only on the premictic parental generation (Female Female P): they induce the occurrence of mictic females (Female Female m) in the next generation (F1) and the visible effect (Male) of this treatment can be observed in F2 generation. The long-day conditions act by the intermediate of a system which receive and stock the information and thereafter control embryonic determination. The responses of parental females to long-day stimulus indicate a great individual variability.
