This is the first contribution to the knowledge of the rotifer fauna of Nepal. Fifty three species are reported, one being new to science (Scaridium bostjani n. sp.). It differs from S. longicaudum (O.F.M) by its stouter build and in the shape of the unci and rami. Lecane sympoda (Hauer, 1929) is synonymised with L. inopinata Harring & Myers, 1926. Three species of Hexarthra were found. Their morphological variability is discussed in some detail.
