9 plankton samples collected by Prof.Dr. K. Bottger, Zoological Institute, Christian-Albrechts-University, D-2300 Kiel, F.R.G. in five ponds near Concepcion, Paraguay, in October 1985, were investigated for rotifers. 138 species were identified. 24 are plankton rotifers and 114 live in the different habitats of the littoral areas. New records for the Neotropics include Cephalodella biungulata Wulfert 1937, Dicranophorus halbachi Koste 1981, Enteroplea lacustris Ehrenberg 1830, Harringia rousseleti de Beauchamp 1912, Itura chamadis Harring & Myers 1928, Lacinularia elliptica Shephard 1897, Monommata cf. arndti Remane 1933 and Resticula melandocus (Gosse, 1887). Two new rotifers are described: Cephalodella hollowdayi n. sp. and Lecane (s. str.) boettgeri n. sp.
