Notes

The infusorian Drepanomonas dentata Fresenius was found Oct. 26th, 1963 in the small pond Muzikantsky at Doksy (N.Bohemia) overgrown with Sphagnum. The species occurred in few individuals among Sphagnum at pH-values ranging between 4.0 and 6.0. There are some morphological differences (fig.1-5) which can be considered as lying within the species variability, when compared with the figures of other authors (see fig.6-9). The specimens from Muzikantsky pond reached 65 µm in length and 32 µm in width. This species was not previously recorded from Czechoslovakia. It is typical for small water bodies containing Sphagnum, but it is occurring always very scarcely.
