In the mountainous and western sections of Montana (Flathead Lake valley, USA) Testacea of 56 samples (sediment, submerged mosses, Sphagnum and peat cores) from 15 different areas were investigated. The results are explained and the colonization of the studied 4 habitat is discussed. Containing the eutrophic species Difflugia urceolata some lakes demonstrate signs of a disturbed environment.
