Notes

The material of the present investigation is collected on the sand beaches of the Soviet Far-Eastern coast of the Sea of Japan and the Canadian coast of the Pacific. In the total of the 13 investigated psammal samples there were found and identified 15 species of testate amoebae, two of which are described for the first time in the present publication: Centropyxiella lucida n. sp. and Pseudocorythion wailesi n. sp. For the other determined species these are given short taxonomical, morphological and zoogeographical notes. At the end of the paper there is given a detailed ecological analysis of the testate amoebae found in the coastal interstitial waters of the seas investigated up to now and they are divided into three ecological groups: psammobionts, limnobionts, and eurybionts. After comparing the data for the distribution of the psammal testate amoebae known up to now the author comes to the conclusion that they are cosmopolitanly widespread and supports the hypothesis of the cosmopolitan character of the intestitial microfauna of the sea and ocean coastal psammal.
