Notes

This study was carried out in 2 subalpine meadows (brown earths podsol mull) and a grassy rhododendron-heath (disturbed iron podsol prehumus) situated in the Centralalps of Tyrol (Austria) at approximately 2,000 m above sealevel. Comparative studies indicate that the disturbing influence of man (downhill skiing) plays an important role in variations species composition and distribution in the various soils studied. The number of specimens decreased with profile depth in all undisturbed soils while the abundance increased in disturbed soils (especially horizon 2-4 cm). The relation of testacean abundance disturbed (skiing path) and undisturbed areas amounts 1:10.
