Descriptions

Body after fixation either straight or ventrally curved, tapering towards both ends. Cuticle thick, around 3 µm in the pharyngeal region and on tail, and 6 µm around mid-body, with transverse striae (SEM). Longitudinal ridges at mid-body 40, but the number of longitudinal ridges decreases anteriorly and posteriorly. They start just behind the amphidial fovea and disappear towards the tail end. Cuticle with pores: 4-5 dorsal, 16-19 ventral, and 28-36 lateral pores (on one side). Most of these pores are found in the anterior half of the body. Lip region somewhat offset. Six inner and six outer labial papillae situated on the lip region. Cephalic sensilla only clear under the light microscope. Stoma with four onchia. Vestibular ring well developed. Odontostyle 1.4 lip region widths long, its orifice occupying around one-fifth of its length. Odontophore poorly demarcated. Amphidial fovea stirrup-shaped, slightly wider than half the corresponding body width, situated at the level of cephalic constriction. Guiding ring 'double'. Pharynx widening in two stages, the first at 47.3% and the second at 59.8% of its length. Anterior part of pharynx very slender, non- or poorly muscular, median part muscular, gradually widening to the strongly muscular enlarged part. Dorsal pharyngeal gland nucleus situated just posterior to second widening, its opening 7-10 µm anterior to nucleus. Ventrosublateral gland nuclei not seen, but S2O seen around 30 µm from the posterior end of pharynx. Nerve ring surrounds pharynx around two-fifths of its length. Cardia elongate-conoid in shape, slightly more than 3 times longer than wide with two parts, a more or less mushroom-shaped anterior part and an elongate-conoid posterior part. The mushroom-shaped part anteriorly extends into the posterior end of the pharynx and posteriorly through a tongue-like projection into the elongate-conoid part of the cardia. The latter joins the intestine which terminates in a prerectum 3 times as long as the anal body width. Rectum half as long as prerectum. Tail tapering, 3 rectal lengths long, ending in a narrow blunt terminus. Three caudal pores present each side. Female reproductive system didelphic, amphidelphic with reflexed ovaries. Sphincter between oviduct and uterus poorly developed. Vagina nearly one-third of the corresponding body width long. Vulva longitudinal, with very thick lips, situated anterior to mid-body. (ref. ID; 1311)
  • Male: Males not found. (ref. ID; 1311)
