Diagnosis

Female body 0.53-0.99 mm. Annules 61-108, retrorse, smooth with membranous cuticular outgrowths. Head annules three, slightly set off. Lip region rounded, submedian lobes small. Head framework weakly developed. Stylet 97-142 um. Vulva open, vagina sraight. Tail 6-10 annules, rounded conical. VL/VB 1.1-1.2. (ref. ID; 5968)
  • Juveniles (fourth stage): Annules with nipple-like spines. (ref. ID; 5968)
  • Males: Lateral incisures four, bursa small, spicules 50-55 um. (ref. ID; 5968)

    Differential diagnosis

    Neobakernema n. gen. differs from Bakernema by the open vulva, straight vagina, weakly sclerotized head framewark, and spined juveniles. Bakernema has a strongly overlapping anterior vulval lip, sigmoid vagina, strongly sclerotized head framework, and smooth to crenate juvenile annules. (ref. ID; 5968)
