Lanceimermis Artyukhovsky, 1969 (ref. ID; 1770)

Family Mermithidae (ref. ID; 1770)

ref. ID; 1770

Diagnosis

Head set off from body, cephalic papillae six, amphids large, posterior to level of cephalic papillae. Mouth opening terminal, Vagina S shaped, vulva flap present, eggs medium sized, many. Tail terminus acutely to bluntly rounded in both sexes. Male with J-shaped spicule, shaft sculptured. Genital papillae in three rows, numerous. (ref. ID; 1770)

Notes

Rubtsov (1974) lists 11 species of Lanceimermis which he considered as belonging to this subgenus, viz. Gastromermis (Lanceimermis) austriaca (Micol.); G. (L.) cephalomyremecida (Steiner); G. (L.) distoicha (Steiner); G. (L.) euvaginata (Steiner); G. (L.) lanceicapita Rubtsov; G. (L.) phreatica (Coman); G. (L.) prolata (Coman); G. (L.) serbani (Coman); G. (L.) trachelata (Steiner); G. (L.) unica Rubtsov; and G. (L.) zschkokkei (Schmassmann). Nickle (1972) considered Lanceimermis as designated by Artyukhovsky (1969) a valid genus. The diagnostic vulval flap of the female and the characteristically shaped spicule of the male supports strongly the basis for Lanceimermis as a valid genus. (ref. ID; 1770)
