Diagnosis

  • Mature female and Cyst: Without posterior protuberances, spherical shape, cuticle with lace-like pattern of ridges. Vulval slit short (<15 µm). Underbridge and bullae rarely present. Perineal tubercles present. Vulval fenestration circumfenestrate; no anal fenestra. Anus dorsal, not on vulval lip. (ref. ID; 5922)
  • Second-stage Juvenile: Stylet less than 30 µm. Esophageal glands fill body width. Phasmids without lenslike structure in muscle layer. (ref. ID; 5922)
  • Male: To 1.5 mm long. Labial disc present but with low profile. Tail present, length less than half body width. (ref. ID; 5922)

    Descriptions

    Sperm: Sperm of G. t. tabacum released from the male genital tract in sperm medium and observed with SEM are nearly globose, about 4-7 µm in diameter, and have more than 12 filopodia concentrated on one side of the body. (ref. ID; 7261)

    G. t. tabacum was isolated from cysts supplied by L.I. Miller from Solanum dulcamara L. in Virginia. (ref. ID; 7261)
