The genus Demanema was erected by Timm (1970) for two new species closely related to Tricoma but differing from the latter in the annulation: large clear annules with central raised granular band. In D. cobbi the structure and shape of the body rings are similar to that of Tricoma-species with quadricomoid rings anteriorly and posteriorly and a quadricomoid endring. In all other characters (internal and external) it agrees with Tricoma. D. deuterum was described on immature specimens which closely resembles Tricoma (Quadricoma)-species. Demanema corresponds in all features, including the structure of the body rings and somatic setae with Tricoma. Consequently Decraemer (1985) synonymize Demanema with Tricoma. (ref. ID; 878)
