Differential diagnosis

Ceramotylenchus tesselatus n. gen., n. sp. is a distinctive genus and species. It is readily separated from the other genera of Duosulciinae by the cuplike oral disc and alternating rows of cuticular blocks occurring on the hend and body (absent in the other genera). (ref. ID; 7246)

Descriptions

Body C-shaped. Cuticle finely annulated with cuticular blocks arranged in alternating rows on the head and body ending about one anal body width posterior to the anus. Remainder of tail finely annulated. Head 5.5 µm wide with six rows of blocks. A cuplike oral disc present. Head framework weakly developed. Amphids not observed. Stylet 11.5 µm long with a 4 µm conus. Stylet knobs rounded, well developed, 3 µm wide. Lateral field 2 µm wide beginning at 28 µm from head end and marked by 2 crenate incisures, which end 11 µm posterior to the anus. Procorpus widening into a weakly valvate median bulb, 7 µm long by 5 µm wide. Isthmus 15 µm long, basal bulb pyriform 14 µm long by 5 µm wide apposed to the intestine. Cardia rounded. Vulva slightly recessed into body, lacking lateral flaps. Ovary prodelphic. Spermatheca not set off, filled with 1.5 µm wide, round sperm. A small post-vulval sac present, 5 µm long and extending one half body width into body. Ovary not reflexed, extending 98 µm anteriad. Phasmids not observed. Tail elongate conical, 46 µm long, terminus finely rounded. (ref. ID; 7246)
