Body barrel-shaped with short cone-shaped snout protruding from flattened anterior region. Posterior broadly rounded. Oral aperture temporary, apically situated. Body ciliation reduced to single narrow band of closely-set cilia encircling the shoulder region where the snout joins the body. Rest of cell free from cilia except for 4 to 6 short longitudinal kineties which may be revealed by silver impregnation methods. Macronucleus C-shaped. Contractile vacuole posterior.
