Stalked individuals form colony; frequently attached to animals such as copepods, rotifers, etc.; stalk mucilaginous; individual cells pyriform, ellipsoidal or cylindrical; without flagellum; a single flagellum only in free-swimming stage; discoidal chromatophores numerous; with pyrenoids; multiplication by longitudinal fission; also by swarmer, possessing a flagellum and a stigma; fresh water. Description; Solitary or colonial, made up of two to eight individuals; flagellate form ovoid to spindle; 7-10 elongate chromatophores along the periphery; flagellum up to twice the body length; a stigma; many paramylum bodies; palmella stage conspicuous; stalked form. (ref. ID; 1618)
