Ovoid body. Ventral surface bearing 2 rows of marginal cirri and a series of short oblique rows of ventral cirri which narrow anteriorly into 2 midventral rows as they curve into the frontal region. In addition there are a few isolated frontal cirri, the 3 most anterior or which are large. Transverse cirri present. AZM short, located in anterior body third. Macronucleus usually with two parts each with adjacent micronucleus.
2 species have been described.

One row of right marginal cirri; one or more rows of left marginal cirri; some of midventral cirri, especially in the posterior half of the cell, arranged in short oblique rows of more than 2 cirri each.
Type genus (by original designation); Bakuella marina Agamaliev & Alekperov, 1976
Bakuella originally was described as containing 2 species. B. marina (type) and B. crenata, from marine and fresh-water habitats, respectively. (ref. ID; 3925)
