Biodiversity Research Program (FY2011-2015)

This Program aims to understand the current status of biodiversity, make predictions of its future, and propose reliable and effective methods for its conservation on scientific bases. Following is the main research themes of the Program:

  • Development of the methods and protocol to monitor the status of biodiversity at the genetic and landscape level
  • Assessment of biodiversity on a broad scale and the scenario analyses for future prediction
  • Study of the effects of anthropogenic disturbances on biodiversity and their management

Basin Ecosystem Functions Research Program (FY2011-2015)

This program is conducted in partnership with the Center for Regional Environmental Research. CEBES works on the following theme:

Research projects proposed by young scientists

Young scientists at CEBES are encouraged to apply for internal funding for their research proposals. At present, 12 research projects are being conducted, each centered around one of the following three themes:

  1. Elucidation of the mechanisms of biodiversity and ecosystems in order to provide scientific evidence for conservation
  2. Assessment of the impacts of anthropogenic threats on biodiversity and ecosystems
  3. Integration of natural science and human/social sciences in order to investigate the relationship between society and the conservation of biodiversity and ecosystems

In addition to the above, our staff carry out research with the assistance of a variety of external research grants.
