Natural range Wide area of tropical, subtropical, and partly in temperate habitat. Africa, Latin America, Asia, Australia, etc. In Japan, a cosmopolitan species Isometrus europaeus is distributed in Sakishima Islands (Miyakojima, Ishigakijima, and Iriomotejima Is.).
Habitat Forest and forest edge.
Invasion information
Range in Japan No exotic scorpion is established in Japan. A wide spread species Isometrus europaeus is naturally distributed in Yaeyama Islands (Miyakojima, Ishigakijima, and Iriomotejima). Range in Japan
Origin Pet trades were often through the United States or Europe.

Route Deliberate: Imported as pet animals to Japan in past.
Impact Potentially: Venomous. Some species can be lethal to man. Dangerous species are found in Androctonus, Centruroides, Hottentotta, Leiurus, Parabuthus, and Tityus.
Regulation in Japan Import, transport and keeping are prohibited in Japan by the Invasive Alien Species Act.
Introduced range in other countries Unknown.
